A New Addition

This week I start watching another little one. This time, it's a girl and she's almost 10 months. Meet Meaghan. She's already crawling, but has no teeth, so she's still being fed mostly baby foods. It's crazy how fast I had forgotten how it was to have a baby with no teeth. And Meaghan wants to eat whatever it is we're eating. Teeth or no teeth, she's willing to give it a try.

So far she seems to be fitting in really well. She plays mostly by herself or likes to be near me (usually crawling all over me). Jayden could careless that there's a new kid in the group. He still does his own thing. Now as for Allan, he's a different story. I've never seen Allan get jealous over me before...until Meaghan came into the picture. He doesn't want her sitting in my lap. He doesn't want her crawling all over me and holding on to me while she stands. If he catches her doing anything like that, then he'll come over and either whine at me or he'll try and do to me exactly what she's doing at the time. He even tries to talk her "baby talk." He'll copy some of the things she does. He even gets on the floor and crawls. He's a mess.

But on a really cute side, Meaghan was sitting on the floor with me this morning and Allan came up to us and sat down facing Meaghan with one of his balls in hand. He then tried to play "ball'' with her. He'd roll the ball to her lap and say something in his own language. I'm thinking he was asking her why she wouldn’t roll the ball back to him. It didn't last very long, but it sure was cute. He's also tried to hug her a few times this morning. Very, very cute.

Once I got the camera out, he was screaming "CHEEEEESEEEEE!!!"
(never mind the droll covered shirt and the runny nose.)

I'm loving this "cheese" faze. It makes for great smiles.

"Cheese"

Allan is in love with balls. But he still thinks that all balls are "basket ball." No matter what I say, or what I call them, he still calls them "basket ball." Oh well, soon he'll get the difference.
He's gotten really good at throwing. Once you get him started, it's hard to get him to stop. We might have a pitcher on our hands!

Now whenever I get the camera to my face and tell him to say "cheese," he gets this huge grin on his face and yells "cheeeeeese!!" It's too cute, and the smiles come out great.

"I Nite-Nite"

I have the lovely pleasure of getting Allan up from his naps. Lately he's been telling me as soon as I wake him up that he was "nite-nite." I tried to explain it to some people, but it just didn't come across as cute as it does with Allan. So what better than to record it.

(Allan says, "I nite-nite!")

He also tells me about a basket ball and does the dribbling motion. Right now Allan thinks every ball is a basket ball. We're working on explaining the difference to him.

How Did He Come Up With That?

The past few days we've been getting these little spiders in our bathroom. I accidently freaked out when I saw it. (I know, I can't help that I'm still scared of bugs.) Kirk wasn't around, which meant I had to kill it myself. ICK! So anyways, once Allan saw me freak he decided he didn't like spiders either. But now he's obsessed with them. He doesn't want to touch them or get close to them. You can't tickle him right after you yell "SPIDER!" But he has to point them out. Oh yeah, that and any other bug is now a spider. Not only that, but any piece of dirt is now a spider. He won't stop pointing to the ground a calling something that's not even there a spider.

Now, the only thing is how he is saying spider. Most of the words he tries to say come out sounding somewhat like the actual word. Not spider. No, his word for spider comes out as "bub bee." Beats me how he came up with that one. It sounds nothing like spider. Not even close. But it cracks me up every time he says it. It's too cute sounding. He walks around the room pointing and saying "bub bee" to everything.

You can't go wrong with a box. The best toy to a kid ever!

The Pianist

We went to Toys-R-Us the other day. Next time I need to go there I am NOT taking Allan and Kirk. We walked out of that store spending way too much money on junk for those two. Yes, Kirk had to get some things too, and there were tons of other things he wanted. I felt like I was in that store with a 1 year old and a 10 year old.
Allan ended up getting his very first piano. Kirk and I decided to keep this lovely toy downstairs so that it’s a treat to get to play it. Plus it’s nice not having it in the game room 24/7. It’s a little piano, but it sure can put out some noise. There’s only so much at a time that Kirk and I can take of this nice instrument.

With that being said, Allan loves the thing. He plays pounds on the thing every chance he gets.
Pure talent right here.

Allan's Mimi should be proud.

Shower Time!

Allan has become obsessed with taking a shower with me. Just me saying the words “mommy’s gonna go take a shower” gets him all excited. He’ll run to my bathroom and start to try and take off his clothes. If I even try to get in the shower with him in the room and not let him in, it’s then end of Allan’s world. He freaks out and bangs on the shower door. Then he’ll throw himself on the floor and try to rip his clothes off. If I even try to tell Kirk that I’m going to take a shower, I have to whisper it and make sure Allan has no clue of where I’m going.

When he does get to come in the shower with me, he thinks he’s so cool. He’ll slip and fall, but it never fazes him. He gets right back up and plays under the shower head. Of course jibber jabbing the entire time. He has more fun in the shower these days than in his own bathtub (and that tub has a bubble machine).

He thinks it's so fun to lay on his belly and play in the little bit of water that stays on the floor of the shower.

For those of you still making the hair comments --
See?!?! he has hair!!
Allan thinks the water coming out of the shower head (or when he sees sprinklers) that it's bubbles.

Cleaning the glass with soap.
Thanks, Allan.
